History:
The U.S. Military Vets MC National Chapter was established in 1987 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and is incorporated as a non-profit organization.
The Virginia State Chapter is also incorporated as a non-profit
organization.
Objectives:
The club as a national organization strives to achieve the following:
To provide a club for qualified military veterans which offers brotherhood and an opportunity to establish relationships with other military veterans who have served in the defense of the United States of America.
To establish and support a strong sense of pride in having served in the active military service of the United States of America.
To improve the image of military veterans and bikers to the general public.
Minimum requirements to be considered for membership:
1. Regular Members
a. Have a DD Form 214 and have served 181 days or more in an active duty status. (Reserve and national Guard members can count active duty for training and "summer camps"). Have full rights to veterans benefits and have received
an Honorable Discharge from the United States military or be currently on active duty for a period greater than 181 days, or currently in the National Guard or Reserves.
b. Have a Valid Motorcycle Operators License.
c. Active participation in the club.
d. Have a motorcycle with an engine greater than 750 cc.
Membership Process
Prior to entering the more formal processes of
prospecting and probating, is is necessary to become familiar with a significant
number of club members. This is done by a very simple process...put a post
on the bulletin board, or E-mail us through one of the links you will see
throughout the website. We will be in touch soon, probably to let you know
where and when we are riding. You will be contacted, and if that initial
contact goes well, you will probably be invited on a ride with us. No pressure,
no stress, just a ride. If you like what you see, and we like what we see,
you may be invited to a meeting, or on the next ride.
Take the initiative. Initiative is everything.
It shows that you want to be part of something like this club. You will
not get into this club, or any other MC if you are a passive individual who
maybe takes things for granted. (There is good reason that we are not
known for active recruiting.) If a patch member decides to sponsor you,
the formal process of joining this club begins.
The process of becoming a member has two phases: Prospect and Probate.
1. During the Prospect phase an individual will go on runs and attend portions of meetings with the club as a guest. This gives the Prospect a chance to evaluate their desire to belong to this brotherhood, and gives current Patch Holders an opportunity to evaluate the Prospects personality and compatibility.
2. The Probate phase is longer and gives the opportunity to learn the proper conduct expected of an MC member. It affords the membership the opportunity to evaluate whether the
Probate is someone they would consider and depend upon as a brother. During this time the
Probate is under the direct supervision of an experienced member whenever wearing the club "rockers".
